Meet the Nunns
For many years, Jonathan Nunn has shared his knowledge of tool making with others, including his son, hosting hammer and tool making clinics at his Staffordshire-based forge, passing on his tool making expertise.
The new Nunn brand of tools for the modern farrier, is a collaboration by Jonathan Nunn, Joshua Nunn and Jim Blurton. This new range of tools has been developed from an initial tool design concept created by Jonathan and Joshua Nunn and are now being distributed internationally through Jim Blurton’s online shop.
By working in collaboration, the Nunn range of tools now share the quality, innovation and ease-of-use that permeates through the Jim Blurton range of farrier tools, and can be purchased online.
Based in Staffordshire, Jonathan Nunn has over 30 years’ experience in horseshoeing, and has always been a keen shoe and tool-making farrier throughout his extensive career.
Jonathan began making hammers in 2009 after attending some of the late Richard Ellis’ tool making clinics, and brings almost a decade of tool-making experience to the new Nunn range of farrier tools, a collaboration with his son Joshua, and Jim Blurton.
Also based in Staffordshire, Joshua Nunn has been gaining valuable hands-on farriering experience, working by his father’s side from a young age. Joshua has now successfully completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Farriery with the Hereford School of Farriery. The course which takes over four years to complete, is one of only three available in the UK and is recognised and accredited by The Farriers Registration Council and The Worshipful Company of Farriers.
Throughout his training Joshua has developed a keen interest in tool making, often spending late nights in the forge with his father, perfecting hammer designs. From the outset Joshua was keen to share his designs with other farriers, asking for valuable feedback which has subsequently driven design refinements to create the perfect hammer.
